when playing mafia, it's game over once the number of mafia equates the number of townspeople left - unless one of the townspeole is the doctor.
legend:
M - mafia
T - poor remaining townspeople
D - doctor, can save themselves
X - burned to the stake/eaten by bears/make up your brutal ending here.
scenario 1 - no more doctor.
wake up:
MM TT
kill off one of the mafia (you have to):
XM TT
go to sleep and mafia kill someone off:
XM XT
wake up:
M T - it's done unless someone commit suicides. the accusations are moot. mafia wins.
scenario 2 - doctor still alive.
wake up:
MM DT
kill off one of the mafia (you have to):
XM DT
go to sleep and mafia kill someone off:
XM DT <- attacks either.
XM DT <- doctor saves victim (super rare but it could work).
wake up:
XM DT (everyone alive. let's hope that the doctor reveals themselves by now. T and M will have to fight each other to death to convince the doctor that "they're not mafia.")
if there's a "mafia for dummies" book, i would like to author it. the game should be played in sales meetings.
